As the spring approaches, the Club is gearing up for the GCASL, or Greater Cincinnat Adult Soccer League. In due preparation, the Club will be holding open tryouts sometime at the beginning of the spring quarter. More information to come!

Bearcats Conquer Indoor

The club, dubbed Clifton Heights Hooligans, won the Tri-County Sportsplex indoor soccer league in the winter session I. Currently, the team is currently playing in the winter session II and is undefeated.

Regionals cancelled due to rain

Unfortunately, UC could not continue its historical season due to weather. The league commissioner decided to cancel the tournament because of rain. The Bearcats will work hard in the off-season playing indoor in the winter and U-23 league in the spring. Next year to eliminate this happening again they have to crush every team and run the table. Come out and support us next year as we hope to make an appearance at Nationals.

Bearcats advance to regionals

The Bearcats capped off a record-breaking season with a 2-1 victory against cross-town rival Xavier and with a 0-0 against Ohio University. The Bearcats finished the regular season (8-2-2) and (6-1-2) in the league qualifying them for the regional tournament. This is the first time the Bearcats have made the tournament in the short history of the program. In the first game Adam scored the first goal for UC with a nice run and combination play in the midfield. Joey then doubled the Bearcats lead with another goal. Although they dominated the second half they couldn't find the back of the net and Xavier pulled one back. Saturday the Bearcats got help from Dayton when they tied Miami clinching a spot for UC in regionals with one game left to play. Sunday the Bearcats battled hard with nothing to lose but was unable to find the back of the net. However a tie did secure a second place finish in the leauge and an easier road for the tournament. The tie also prevented Ohio from making the regional tournament. The Bearcats travel to Bloomington, IN this weekend as they face Wis-LaCrosse at noon and Michigan at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The first round is a round robin format with the first place team advancind to the knockout stage. On Sunday the Semifinals will be taking place at 9:30 a.m. and the Final is at 1:30 p.m. Come out and support you UC Bearcats as they hope to make history again by raising the regional tournament trophy this weekend and advance to nationals.

UC and Miami tie

In a hard fought game both teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. Both teams had a lot of possession in the first half. Miami had a couple opportunities to score and slightly controlled the game. In the second half the Bearcats took the initiative and had more chances than Miami. The Bearcats strung more passes together and tired Miami as the half went along. There were two red cards handed out in a physical game. A small squabble broke out in the second half when Jimmy Rosen was elbowed in the face. The Bearcats had several dangerous opportunities in the final 10 minutes of the game. The best chance came when Wes Rasdorf hit the post on a breakaway with the keeper. UC is still in the running for a place in Regional Finals but now faces two must win games to close out the season. The Bearcats next game is against Xavier Wednesday 7:30 at Winton Woods High School.

Mid-Season update

The Cincinnati Bearcats are currently 6-2. They have dominated their opponents scoring 21 goals while allowing six. The Bearcats are in third place in the league. Joey Sandmann leads the team in scoring with three goals. The team has spread the scoring around with seven players. The home stretch is right around the corner and the Bearcats are hitting their stride. The October 15 match at home against Miami U. and October 25 at Ohio U . could determine the league winner. A top three finish gurantees a berth in the Regional Tournament. Come out to Gettler Park and support your Bearcats when they take on Miami this Thursday.

UC smashes Ball State 5-2

UC started the season strong with a 5-2 win against Ball State this Saturday at Old River Park. Joey Sandmann had a hat trick in the match and Mario Magliano and Wes Rasdorf each added another. The Bearcats play next Saturday against OSU and Bowling Green at Winton Woods High School. Match times are 11:30 am and 2 pm, respectively. Come out and support the team!

Season Opener Against Ball State 9.19

UC defeats ONU 5-0

This past Friday, September 12th, UC kicked off its first match of the season in a scrimmage against ONU at Winton Woods High School. UC went on to comfortably win the match 5-0 at the end of regulation. The next game is a scrimmage against UK at UK on Wednesday, September 16th. Season play begins Saturday, September 19th against Ball State at 1 pm at Old River Park near UD.

First, register as a user on this website. Once registered, you will begin to receive the email notifications regarding all the club information.

The Club President is Alan Hagerty and his email is hagertan@email.uc.edu. Our head coach is Randy Anderson and he can be reached at footyjunkie@yahoo.com.

Tryouts are September 7, 8, and 9th from 6:00-8:00 pm on Gettler Field or Shaklee Lawn, depending on availability. While tryouts are absolutely mandatory, if you cannot attend due to travel circumstances or family issues, you must let Randy and myself know before tryouts. Accommodations will be made accordingly to each circumstance.

The cost to tryout will be between $10-15 (TBD), which will include the Club T-Shirt Jersey and full club membership registration. Registration will require medical information, so bring your insurance cards and information. Also, we expect over 70 people to tryout, so come well prepared. We will roster around 24 active players, with a larger practice squad.

The fall is our primary season, in which we play in the Midwest Alliance Soccer Conferance, Eastern Division against other college club teams such as OU, UD, OSU, Wright State, and Miami. From September to November, expect to be playing soccer almost everyday. For those players on the traveling and practice roster, a full schedule will be provided following tryouts. Concerning membership fees, the cost is $150 for players on the travel roster, which includes pre-assessed tryout fee. Payment due date will be determined during the season.

This summer we will be having open fields usually on Friday and Saturday at Gettler Field or Shaklee Lawn, depending on availability. Both are located in Varsity Village.

Randall Anderson Is the New UC Club Soccer Coach

Randall Anderson has accepted his offer to be head coach of the UC Club Soccer team. We will be having a club team practice sometime soon so he can begin to prepare for the Fall 2009 season. A Doodle Poll will be created in order to maximize everyone's attendance.

Winter Season Update

The team has been playing 11v11 soccer at Wall2Wall the past few months. We won the first session and are currently in second place in the second session. If you are interested in playing, call Alan Hagerty at 937-654-8342 or email him at hagertan@uc.edu...... Also, stay posted for the upcoming Spring season. We will be having open practices, some exhibition matches, and will be playing in tournaments. More information to come soon!

Games on Saturday 10/25

The team traveled to Dayton to play UD and Michigan State. We lost 1-0 to UD and 6-0 to MSU.

The team finished with a 5-6-1 record. We ended up fifth of ten in our division and fourth by overall record in our Division.

We will be playing indoor soccer during the winter. We are also looking into playing in an amatuer spring league.

Field Change

The field for Miami game on October 23rd has been moved to Madiera High School. The time is still 7:00 p.m.

Toledo Road Trip

We traveled up to Toledo all Saturday, October 18th and came out on top, 2-0. Goals were scored by Kidus Talede assisted by Wes Rasdorf and Garrett Lauf. Goalkeepers James Weaver and Alan Hagerty posted thier first collective shutout of the season.

Your Bearcats play this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Kolping against Miami. Location subject to change.

The traveling roster will have thier final two practices of the regular season this Monday and Wednesday.

The Bearcats still have shot at the postseason, so wish them luck!!

Wright State Game Results

On Thursday, October 16th, the Bearcats rallied late to tie the Wright State Raiders 1-1. The goal came off a corner and two headers with the assist from Stevie Campbell and the goal by Matt Burgei.

Cincinnati's record is now 4-3-1. We play Toledo this Saturday in Toledo.

Mid-Season

The team is now 4-3-0. We are 2-3 in our conference. In order to make regionals, we need to win the rest of our conference games and hope for a wildcard birth

We play Wright State Thursday, October 16th @ 7:00 at Kolping Park.
